Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) Bursaries

The IDC is providing an opportunity to students to apply for the scholarship for the upcoming year of 2023. Academically gifted students who lack the funds to continue their education will be given bursaries.

 

The bursary is applicable for the fields directly in relation to the industry including the following:

Applied Commercial Sciences:

About IDC

The South African government owns the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), which was founded in 1940 and is governed by the Economic Development Department. The IDC is a national development finance organisation that offers financial and non-financial support to young businesses working on industrial development projects.

The institution was established to foster economic development and industrial growth, as well as to support the creation of sustainable jobs both within the nation and throughout the rest of Africa.

Up to R1 billion, the IDC offers financial support to entrepreneurs launching new businesses and businesses wishing to expand their current operations.

 

Bursary Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must check the eligibility criteria before applying for the course. There should not be any exceptions:

  • You must be a resident of South Africa.
  • You must be a South African resident.
  • Age range from 16 to 25 years old.
  • You must have completed or been enrolled in high school.
  • You must be pursuing a full-time undergraduate degree in one of the aforementioned fields, or you must plan to do so.
  • You must be enrolled in, or plan to enrol in, a South African public university, university of technology, or TVET college (the bursary will NOT cover studies at private institutions)
  • Graduate students: you must have earned a minimum grade of “B” in math and science, as well as a 75% overall average.
  • Graduate students: Your cumulative average must be at least 65%.
  • Those enrolled in tertiary education must have completed all of their courses.
  • You cannot receive any other funding from a scholarship or an employer.
  • You must demonstrate a need for assistance based on your household’s overall income.
  • Students who live in rural areas will be prioritised.

Documents Required

All the mentioned documents must be submitted along with the application form. There should not be any exceptions:

  • Identity card (certified copy)
  • final grades for grade 11 and, if you are a current Matric student, June results (certified copies)
  • Certificate of completion for Matric (certified copy)
  • if not studying this year, the most recent academic results (certified copy)
  • complete tertiary academic record, if you’re still in school (certified copy)
  • proof of acceptance or conditional admission to a university or college (on institutions letterhead)
  • the guardians or parents an affidavit or the most recent audited financial statements if you are self-employed, latest pay stubs if you are employed, a death certificate if you are deceased, a divorce certificate if you are divorced, or a sworn statement, if you are separated, are all acceptable forms of proof of income. Closing Date Of The Bursary

The applications will be closed on  29 September 2022 . No late applications will be accepted.
