HR & Payroll Officer – Start date: ASAP
The Teddy Bear Foundation, a Non-Profit, provides efficient and professional services to prevent and minimise the devastating effects of abuse on children and their families. Its vision: CHILD ABUSE NO MORE. But where they are being abused, our services promote children’s healing and stop any further abuse. This minimises any secondary harm to children and their families entering the child protection system.
The Impact You’ll Make
As our HR & Payroll Consultant, you’ll be responsible to lead approved HR policy, practices and objectives within our framework of the mission, ensuring our team feels supported, valued, and empowered to do their best work and provide best related services. You’ll manage the full duties as listed below, while making sure our HR practices reflect our values of fairness, transparency, and care. Your work will ensure that our staff can focus on delivering impact, knowing that their wellbeing and livelihoods are in safe hands.
What You’ll Do
Manage the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payments in compliance with statutory requirements (PAYE/UIF);
Maintain and update employee records and contracts, and related HR Policy/procedure and practices;
Co-ordinate Recruitment, Selection & Onboarding Recruitment, Selection & Onboarding End-to-End Talent Acquisition, including drafting job adverts, screening candidates, and engaging new onboarding new hires;
Manage Exits to ensure set proper and aligned legal process and interactions that guide the end of an employment relationship—voluntarily or involuntarily;
Support performance management cycles, training initiatives, and employee engagement activities;
Employee Relations: ensure compliance with labour legislation and organisational policies; and
Act as the first point of contact for HR-related queries, providing guidance with empathy and discretion.
What You’ll Bring
An appropriate, relevant, NQ 7 qualification.
3+ years’ experience in HR and payroll administration.
Proficiency in Microsoft systems.
Strong knowledge of South African labour laws and statutory requirements.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
A people-first mindset, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
High levels of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
A valid driver’s licence and the ability to driver.
