Freelance Construction Technical Specialist / Project Manager Part Time

About the opportunity
A contracting company is seeking an experienced, hands-on construction professional to collaborate with us on a project-by-project basis. We are looking for an individual with broad construction knowledge who can assess project requirements, provide technical guidance, prepare quotations and manage the execution of projects from commencement to completion.

Key responsibilities
-Conduct site inspections and assess project requirements.
-Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities and quotations.
-Recommend suitable materials, methods and technical specifications.
-Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, artisans, labourers and suppliers.
-Manage project timelines, quality control, budgets and site safety.
-Provide progress reports and ensure work meets the agreed scope and standards.
-Assist with construction tenders, technical submissions and project planning where required.

Desired experience
Candidates should have practical experience in several construction disciplines, which may include:

-General building and renovations.
-Roofing, roof sheeting, waterproofing and guttering.
-Plumbing, painting, tiling and flooring.
-Civil works, concrete work and structural repairs.
-Commercial and industrial maintenance.
-Labour, materials and subcontractor management.
-Experience managing commercial, industrial, warehouse or large-scale construction projects will be advantageous.

Minimum requirements
-Demonstrable experience in construction project execution and site management.
-Ability to assess projects independently and provide accurate costings.
-Established contacts among reliable subcontractors, artisans and suppliers.
-Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
-Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects when required.
-Relevant qualifications, trade certificates and safety training will be advantageous.

Engagement structure
This is not a permanent salaried position. The successful candidate will be engaged on a project-by-project basis as opportunities arise.

The individual will assess the requirements of each project and submit a quotation for the services required. Fees, responsibilities, deliverables and timelines will be agreed upon before work commences.
