SOUS CHEF – LUXURY SAFARI LODGE | HLULUWE

Location: Lodge near Hluhluwe, KwaZulu-Natal
Job Type: Permanent | Live-in
Salary: Market Related

A prestigious luxury safari lodge in the Hluhluwe area is looking for an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join its culinary team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintain exceptional kitchen hygiene and food safety standards
• Train and mentor chefs while implementing kitchen standards
• Oversee food orders, stock control, storerooms and refrigeration
• Maintain strict food costs and minimise wastage
• Ensure all food served to guests meets exceptional quality standards
• Create memorable bush banqueting, picnics, drink stops and game-drive snacks
• Manage special dietary requirements and ensure guest needs are communicated to the kitchen team
• Promote teamwork, discipline, creativity and professional standards
• Work closely with Lodge Management, HODs, chefs, butlers and suppliers
• Assist with kitchen operations across the property when required
• Ensure excellent communication regarding menus, dishes and ingredients

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 3+ years relevant culinary experience
Experience within the luxury hospitality or safari industry advantageous
Strong organisational and communication skills
Creative and passionate about food
Good computer skills
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Strong understanding of world-class hospitality and service standards
Honest, proactive, driven and career-focused
Valid, unendorsed South African driver’s licence essential
