Job Title: Syndication Editor (Part Time, Remote, contract)
Location: Remote (Open to candidates globally with strong English skills)
Employment Type: Part Time (15-20 hours per week)
Compensation: Base retainer + performance bonus for successful syndication placements
Reports To: Project Lead
About the Role
We are looking for a Syndication Editor to join our growing editorial team. This is not a writing role. It is a strategic partnership role. You will be responsible for taking the exceptional content produced by our in-house writers and placing it with external publications, newspapers, magazines, and websites.
You will act as the bridge between our internal editorial team and the wider publishing market. Your goal is to expand our reach, build lasting relationships with editors and publishers, and ensure our stories find the largest possible audience.
If you have a contact book full of editors, a strategic mind for story placement, and the persistence to build relationships that last, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and build relationships with external publication partners, including newspapers, magazines, industry blogs, and digital media platforms
Pitch and frame stories from our internal writers to match the tone and audience of each external partner
Negotiate syndication terms, including fees, exclusivity, and publication timelines
Maintain a database of publication contacts, including editors, section heads, and commissioning editors
Monitor external publications for opportunities to place our content
Work closely with the in-house editorial team to understand upcoming stories and identify the best external homes for them
Track syndication performance, including reach, engagement, and backlinks
Provide regular reports on syndication activity and outcomes
What We Are Looking For
Proven experience in syndication, media partnerships, or editorial placement roles
An existing network of editor and publisher contacts across multiple publications, or can build one quickly
Strong negotiation and relationship building skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strategic thinking ability to match stories to the right publications
Experience working with remote or distributed editorial teams
Comfort with performance tracking and reporting
Nice to Have
Experience in the art, luxury, or culture publishing space
Knowledge of SEO and backlink strategies
Experience with CRM or contact management tools
