The ideal candidate for this role will be responsible for working within and leading a team of energetic Software Engineers to deliver required projects according to projected timelines. Your goal will be to develop high-quality software that is aligned with user needs and business goals.
You will work with executive management to define software requirements and take the lead on operational and technical projects. You will be responsible for high level decisions for software development, including the creation of architectural approaches for software design, development of standards and implementation to guide the engineering team.
In this role, you should be able to work independently with little supervision. You should have excellent organization and problem-solving skills, as well as hands-on experience in architecture, software engineering and agile methodologies. You should be able to inspire, motivate, coach and mentor your team.
Key Performance Areas
Support and maintain production system(s)
Attend to and resolve system queries according to agreed timelines
Have the capability to identify and solve technical problems
Define all aspects of development from appropriate technology and workflow to coding standards
Developing technical specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility
Deliver solutions according to the agreed project timelines
Drive a culture of ownership with emphasis on code quality
Understands relational database concepts.
Possesses knowledge of classes, components, objects, and interfaces
Measure and test to ensure the usability of the developed solutions
Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to fix and improve products
People and team management
Actively drive and review team KPA’s in collaboration with senior managers
Continuously review and assess skills and competencies across the team and motivate effective development plans (PDPs)
Lead and direct the team through inspiration and innovation
Participate in discussions and forums to improve processes and procedures across the team and organisation
Qualifications & Accreditations
3 Year Degree with Information Technology being the core subject or equivalent qualification (E.g. BSc Computer Science or BSc IT)
Certified Scrum Master or related certification
Experience & Skills
7+ Years’ experience in C#, MVC, ASP.Net, SQL Server and T-SQL
2+ years of demonstrated people leadership experience
Familiarity with agile software development methodologies
Experience with designing back-end systems and APIs
Ability to drive technical excellence, pushing innovation and quality
Strong organisational and communication skills
Solving problems in distributed systems
AWS, especially EC2 and EKS
