BOOKKEEPER / ACCOUNTANT

About the Role:

Payroll Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant  with a BCOM Accounting Degree or similar to join a well established manufacturing company based South of Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and supporting the finance function within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Full bookkeeping function, including processing entries up to trial balance
Must have experience with preparation and submission of EMP, VAT, TAX returns and dealing with SARS.
Excel and AI advantageous.
Preparation of management accounts
Maintaining the fixed asset register
Preparing financial schedules and reports
Processing and reconciliation of accounts
Completing and managing cashbooks
Handling VAT calculations and submissions
Preparation and submission of tax returns (SARS)
Ensuring compliance with IFRS for SMEs
Managing Workmen’s Compensation (COID) requirements
Assisting with financial reporting and audits
Advanced use of Microsoft Excel for reporting and analysis

Minimum Requirements:
BCom Degree (Accounting / Finance) – Essential
Proven experience in a bookkeeping / accounting role
Experience within a manufacturing environment (highly advantageous)
Strong knowledge of:SARS processes
VAT and tax legislation
IFRS for SMEs
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Advanced)

Experience:
Relevant accounting experience is preferred
Practical experience handling full accounting functions will be advantageous
