Duties & Responsibilities
Gather and monitor financial data
Prepare accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports and examine to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
Prepare adjusting journal entries.
Review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences.
Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts.
Forecast costs and revenues
Ensure compliance with UIF and COIDA regulations and that the necessary payments and reporting are done.
Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, or other tax requirements
Prepare, analyse, or verify annual reports, financial statements, and other records, using accepted accounting and statistical procedures to assess financial condition and facilitate financial planning
Process invoices for payment
Review data about material assets, net worth, liabilities, capital stock, surplus, income, or expenditures
Perform month-end and year-end close processes
Ensure that the annual audit runs smoothly
Desired Experience & Qualification
B.Com degree in Accounting with completed SAICA articles
Proven work experience as a Financial Accountant (5 years post articles)
Experience as a Financial Manager
Experience with listed companies an advantage
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and accounting software
In-depth understanding of business bookkeeping procedures
Solid knowledge of accounting regulations
Excellent math skills with an attention to detail
Time-management abilities
